FROZEN HEAD STATE PARK.

last weekend we packed up the truck and headed for the mountains. the weather was unbelievable and you can bet that every one was outdoors. no, really... there wasn't a single campsite available in the smoky mountains! while we had originally planned to do some backcountry camping and rough it for a bit, we had a late night out the night before so we decided that car camping would just be easier. we grabbed our tent, sleeping bags, firewood and food and set off for a few days alone together.

we picked a site near the flat fork river where we could listen to the streams as we sleep. after we got our tent set up, we decided to explore the nearby trails. we ended up hiking on bird mountain. which was opened after 27 years and pretty treacherous. we lasted about five miles before we decided to head back down for the night. the sun was just beginning to set. we started a fire and prepared to make supper; hot dogs & hobo stew. we cut veggies and potatoes with the sounds of children's laughter echoing throughout the woods. as the temperature slowly began to drop, i warmed by toes beside the fire. we sat in peaceful silence, just enjoying the moment together.

after s'mores and a few scary camp stories. we cuddled in the tent until drifting off to sleep. i will never stop loving these adentres that we share. each one is so special and they just keep getting better and better. i can't wait to share a lifetime of adventures with him.

  7. Excellent. Brings back fond memories. I had a habit of ditching school for Frozen Head. My discovery of Frozen Head wasn't good for my GPA.
