on labor day, we woke up early to spend the day in the woods.
we researched areas near marietta, ohio and found hocking hills nearby.
i knew we had to go after seeing photos on pinterest months ago and after
a few friends suggested it. as we drove down the highway we were surrounded
by fog. we pulled up to the park around ten and were surprised by how crowded
it seemed. we hiked down to old man's cave and were blown away by its' beauty.
we also hiked grandma gatewood's trail which was named after the first woman to
hike the entire appalachian trail and at the age of sixty-seven [!!!] we visited the falls
but a dry season had left them pretty wimpy. we walked until we could barely feel our
feet and got caught in a thunderstorm on the way back to the car. this park is a great day
trip for families or for outdoor lovers like us. make sure you arrive early, this place fills up fast!
