we woke up early on a thursday morning to make the drive up to yellowstone. or yosemite as i jokingly referred to it as until i couldn't keep it straight anymore. we packed for a day trip and it's a good thing too, considering the main road to old faithful was closed. we drove around yellowstone lake with the most breathtaking view of a mountain range in the distance. we stopped to admire the fields of yellow and the mini geysers that line the road. at one point we made a wrong turn and ended up at the grand canyon of yellowstone. we got out to stretch our legs a bit and walked into the woods when suddenly the canyon appeared. i was continuously blown away by how many surprises this place held. a few hours later, we arrived at old faithful. we grabbed lunch and watched the crowd gather outside. we hurried to get a seat and watched old faithful do her thing. on the drive home, we got caught in stand still traffic for over an hour, all because a bison wouldn't cross the road. we caught the sunset over jackson lake and the tetons. we listened to our favorite songs. and we spotted a herd of elk and stopped to watch them wander. this day was one to remember for sure.
