Summer is in full swing here in the Midwest and it sure is keeping us busy. Between six day work weeks and a trip each month, there is a lot going on around here. Since we really have no idea how long we will be in Missouri, we've been making an effort to enjoy everything this area has to offer. While we are currently living in a smaller town than we are used to, my husband travels to an even smaller rural community for work each day. He discovered a lake tucked back between corn fields and farm homes, a local treasure for this area. So last weekend, Carter came home from work and told me to pack us a lunch. While he grabbed the fishing poles, I grabbed my swimsuit and soon after we ended up at the Pony Express Lake. We spent the next few hours rowing across the lake, searching for a calm spot to eat lunch, not catching any fish, and soaking up the sunshine.
