THANKSGIVING, 2015.

just a few iphone photos from our thanksgiving holiday in nashville.

we spent thanksgiving this year with my family in nashville. instead of flying back to kansas city after the funeral, i stayed behind to save the money and spend a few extra days at home. once carter arrived, we packed in as much excitement as we could. we wandered up and down main street, brunched at grey's, did a little christmas shopping, watched movies, and ate our weight in turkey.

on friday, we drove over to knoxville to surprise carter's sister for her thirtieth birthday. after a celebratory dinner, we enjoyed a night out at one of our favorite bars in the old city with friends and family. the next two days were spent lounging, packing, and soaking up as much of home as we could before heading back to the midwest for a few weeks.

hope you all had a happy thanksgiving with the ones you love. i have so much to be thankful for.

A BACKYARD BONFIRE.

a few days ago we travelled home to tennessee after carter's grandfather passed away. we spent a long weekend surrounded by family and trying to be of comfort to his grandmother. he had suffered the last couple of months from an undiagnosed illness, that left him in pain most days. thankfully, that last week was a good one, and from what we were told, he was his usual, joyful self. there was no other man more excited to meet his father in heaven and there is a lot of peace in that.

we decided to build a bonfire in the backyard one afternoon. we walked through the woods collecting sticks and gathering up piles of leaves. our nephews enjoyed jumping around and throwing said leaves all over me and in return, i enjoyed listening to their silly laughs as they disappeared underneath the piles. when the sun went down, we ate dinner by the fire and roasted "shmarsh-shmellows" (cuteness overload courteousy of miles flynn.)

a few photos above and hopefully soon, a video, too.

HAPPY POCKY DAY!

today my friends and i over at scout media collective are taking part in the share-a-bration of the beloved pocky snack. our friends over at pocky generously sent us all of their flavors to try and needless to say, we are obsessed.

with the cold winter season approaching, carter and i decided to invite our new neighbors over for a bonfire and s'mores - complete with hot chocolate and pocky sticks. we passed around the basket and took turns trying new flavors while telling stories around the fire.

pocky's week long share-a-bration sweepstakes is all about sharing happiness and what better way to do that than to share our new favorite snack with our new friends!

are you a pocky fan? let me know what you're favorite flavor is in the comments. (mine is currently the cookies + creme) and share your photos with the hashtag #sharehappiness.

to get involved in the celebration and enter for a chance to win some great prizes, make sure to check out pocky here.
