A WEEK IN FLORIDA.

a few weeks before labor day, carter found out that he would be needed in florida for several weeks to set up a job. we realized that he would be needed just days after our anniversary and decided to spend the first week together in central florida. we rented a home at the last minute due to the hurricane that flooded most of the coastline.

we only had one day off together, labor day, and decided to leave otis at home and spend the day in the sun. we ended up in tarpon springs, a little harbor town about forty minutes from where we were staying. there wasn't much of a beach in the area, but small parks filled with palm trees. we grabbed a few things and found the perfect spot to hang for a few hours. afterwards, we stopped into the tarpon turtle and enjoyed coconut shrimp and mai tai's before heading home.

while carter worked long days, i spent my time at the house catching up on work, reading by the pool, and binge watching shows on netflix. it was pretty uneventful and at times, boring, but filled with a lot of time to relax which is always appreciated.

on the day of our anniversary, carter worked late and i was struggling to meet a work deadline due to my ol' trusty laptop so when asked how i wanted to spend the evening, my vote was for pizza and beer and for us all to be together. we drove down to tampa and ended up at a dive bar where we had delicious passion fruit ipas and a pepperoni pizza while otis was treated like a king by the employees.

we spent our last afternoon together driving down the coast and checking out the different beach towns. it rained for most of the drive but just as we were reaching clearwater, the clouds cleared and the sun came out. we stopped at a beach access and made our way to the boardwalk where otis got his first glimpse of the ocean.

i'm now off to asheville for fall break co. while carter stays in florida for a few more weeks. it wasn't exactly the trip we were hoping for but we were together, and the rest doesn't matter.
